1. royal college of physicians, queen street

Historical venue packed with character, warmth and gorgeous details. Scotland’s largest and oldest medical library, still in use today with over 70,000 books and 1500 journals. Established in 1682.

The three main areas used for weddings are the Cullen Suite in a gorgeous blue and white decor. It is used for ceremonies, cocktails, and canapes (I call it the Wedgwood Room). The stunning and romantic New Library is ideal for ceremonies and smaller wedding breakfast gatherings. The Grand Hall is an epic room full of marble columns and busts. It is perfect for larger wedding ceremonies, speeches, wedding breakfasts, and the good old knees up on the dancefloor!

My favorite caterer at this venue is Pinkertons who know the venue well and create delicious and stunningly beautiful menus!

There is also access to the private Queen Street Gardens – there are 2 to choose from! Perfect for couples photos and only a few minutes walk away. If you want those iconic shots by Circus Lane and Water of Leith, it’s only a 5 minute taxi ride away!

The venue is right on Queen Street. It is easy to get to, with many hotels nearby. It is also accessibility friendly.

2. The Edinburgh Grand/MARRIOTT bonvoy, st andrews square

Recently under new management, Marriott BONVOY, this luxe venue has the grand wow-factor! Set on St Andrews Square it has many spaces to use for your wedding. The Directors Suite is just gorgeous. It has lovely natural light and lush decor. There is even a grand bedroom hidden at one end of the room, which is perfect for getting ready in! (You should see the bathtub!). The Registry Club is ideal for post ceremony drinks. It has its own bar. The Club is also great for evening celebrations. The Games Room is perfect for small to medium wedding breakfasts. And that atrium!
Worried about rain on your wedding day? This venue is so beautiful inside, you don’t need to worry!
Also is great for smaller group photos outside the main door and that confetti moment!

3. City chambers, royal mile

Planning an elopement or a smaller, intimate wedding? This the the place for you. The City Chambers, set in the heart of the Royal Mile, is not just any old registry office. It is steeped in history. With St Giles Cathedral on its doorstep, you are right in the middle of iconic photo territory!
There is a selection of ceremony rooms depending on the size of your wedding. One room has its own guest lounge for before and after the ceremony with views over Princes Street.
Although you are not permitted confetti inside the Chambers courtyard, a quick few steps over the road, a blizzard of colour looks fantastic with the Royal Mile in the background or maybe the Mercat Cross before some group photos (outside the Chambers or by St Giles) and your couple photos in and around the area (I know so many incredible spots, some undercover if raining!)

4. signet library, parliament square

A very grand and historic venue right on Parliament Square, neighboring St Giles Cathedral.
Book lined walls are filled with natural light. This setting is perfect for couples wanting to add glamour and wow!
This significant Georgian building houses the Society of Writers to Her Majesty’s Signet. It is a prestigious association of Scottish lawyers. The building remains a very active workplace.
It is close to many hotels and transport links. Although there is no parking nearby due to the nature of the Royal Mile, the venue oozes with historic details. It also has a very grand staircase perfect for photos!
Confetti is permitted outside (must be biodegradable as always) and great photo locations all within minutes!
